Welcoming you warmly to the blog, a place to connect, share stories and inspire with landscapes, nature, projects and people from all over the world.
Journeys begin with a single step
I have always had a love of travel, adventure and exploration and this innate curiosity began with imagining what life was like in other countries. Flicking through books to see beautiful landscapes, I dreamed of visiting exotic destinations.
Growing up in Hampshire in the UK, I was surrounded by the countryside as described by Jane Austin in her novels, which were the setting of inspiration from her home where she lived. The ‘romance’ of the countryside didn’t develop till later on in my adult life, but nevertheless I was charmed by nature from childhood.
My family moved overseas to Istanbul in Turkey in my late teens, which was where my curiosity for new landscapes, culture, people, food and traditions sparked and simmered for many years. Feeling at home in a country vastly different from mine in many respects, yet I felt at home; I felt home.
The itch for adventure
During my years at University back in the UK, studying psychology, I decided that I would also learn Italian so that I could spend a year abroad in Italy (to learn Italian and of course!). This was one of the best years of my life (still!). I fell in love again, with landscapes, language, people and places. That feeling of being at home, in a place I was fairly temporarily based.
By the end of the year I was fluent in Italian, charmed by the whole experience and didn’t much want to move back to the UK to finish my degree, but did anyway! I share these experiences as a backdrop to my unfolding years that succeeded. A journey of many twists and turns, yet an inner compass always present to reset my navigation whenever I needed to connect back to myself; feeling at home in myself wherever I found myself.
A dream vision becomes reality
As early as I can recall, sitting on my windowsill as a child at night looking out at the stars, I had an innate knowing that exploration was part of my journey on this planet. What was out there between me and the stars? What was this intrigue and desire to see stars under the same sky but from different landscapes and viewpoints?
My deep felt connection to the stars reflected the inner sparks of curiosity to learn languages, meet new people, appreciate different perspectives and gain depth in the beauty of life’s experiences. My early childhood experiences of travel nurtured this curiosity; having lived in different countries, learned the language, ate incredible food and lived in rich, vibrant cultures, what else was out there waiting to be discovered?!
These were my very conscious thoughts that stoked the inner fire that grew as I did.
Enter photography! A medium through which this curiosity was met with a creative output of expression. My love of photography has grown with me, it’s been part of my journey and continues to be as I bring my stories, thoughts, words and images of travel and life experience to form. I’ve spent the past decade travelling around Central and South America, living in many exotic and fascinating places, connecting deeply with nature, people, places, lands and language.
These themes are present in my collections shared in the gallery and I shall be sharing more stories of my travels and adventures, as well as the inner journey of personal transformation. We often conceptualise ‘home’ as a fixed place where we live in the physical world, this is true. Additionally, the essence of my journey is primarily spiritual in nature; continuing the story of what’s seemingly become part of my mission in life; to be home wherever I am and sharing the experience with those I’m surrounded with in the moment, with appreciation of beauty in all things.
My intention is to share, create connection and co-create a world with you here to be experienced in this present moment; that together we co-create. Thank you for being here, I am grateful for your presence.
